A message from the CMCA Chairman

Come and enjoy the friendship and activities of a CMCA State Rally

On behalf of the Board and Management of CMCA, I invite members to register and attend the 2022 CMCA West Coast Rally in Westonia to be held 30th March – 4th April.

Whilst “rally regulars” know the benefits of attending, if you have never been to a CMCA rally before, a state rally is a good place to start.  They are smaller in nature and generally allow for more intimate activities and interaction time with other members. They are not as overwhelming as National Rallies for first timers, where up to 1000 vehicles could attend. Members have developed many long-life friendships at such events.

State rallies provide CMCA with exposure to new towns and councils each year. They allow us to promote RV travellers as friendly and engaging. Often, we can form ongoing relationships with regards to RV Friendly Towns, dump points or Freedom of Choice campsites as a result of a rally being held. It is extremely pleasing however, to see Westonia is well catered in all three areas already.

Westonia, located in Western Australia’s wheat belt, is renowned for its vast open skies, breathtaking granite outcrops, stunning natural woodlands and beautiful wildflowers. The town has a firm heritage focus, boasting historic buildings that have been lovingly restored. All new buildings constructed on the main street have also been constructed in a 1920s historic style, while the town’s streets are wrapped in impressive native gardens. For those who are interested in history, the Hood-Penn Museum is located on the main street. The museum features a range of different scenes showcasing early life in the Shire, as well as a vibrating interactive mine tunnel.

The town itself and the surrounding areas will benefit financially from our visit, not only during the event, but before, after and into the future as “spreading the good word” is the best promotion we can give them in return for their hospitality. The locals also benefit in other ways from the interactions they have with our members – and yes, our members equally benefit from the locals too.

We hope to see you in Westonia in late March – situated 316 kilometres east of Perth and 306 kilometres west of Kalgoorlie.

Want to stay on longer? St Luke’s Church offers a parking area for up to 10 days, free of charge. There are bins provided and pets on a lead are permitted. A dump point can be found nearby on the corner of Westonia-Carrabin Road and Boodarockin Road. The Westonia Caravan Park provides free potable water and offers budget friendly powered sites.

Enjoy and safe travels,

Kim Templeton
